Join us to meet Boston Bruins mascot, Blades; Olympic Gold Medalist and Boston Pride president Colleen Coyne; First Lady of the Commonwealth, Lauren Baker; and have a morning of fun and games!
Mrs. Baker and Blades are joining us as part of the annual First Lady of the Commonwealth and Blades Summer Reading Challenge. Summer library programs help stop the summer learning slide and build skills needed for the upcoming school year. Studies have shown that children who read just four books over the summer do better when returning to school in the fall than children who read one book or less.
This year, Tyngsborough has pledged to read 4000 days as a community. When we reach this goal, we are entered into a raffle to win signed Bruins gear, like sticks and pucks! We are already halfway to our goal, and this visit is sure to help put us way over the top.
RSVP by clicking here. By RSVPing you are entered into a raffle for a kids-size Bruins jersey. We hope you will join us in welcoming all our special guests.
The challenge is a collaboration between the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC), the First Lady of the Commonwealth Lauren Baker, and the Boston Bruins. Over four million children, teens and adults have participated in Statewide Summer Library programming since 2009. The Statewide Summer Library program is made possible with support from the Boston Bruins, the Massachusetts Library System and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners with Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
