Tyngsborough Public Library

Symphony Upgrade

The way we process, catalog, and check in and out books is getting an upgrade. The Merrimack Valley Library Consortium, of which Tyngsborough Public Library is a member, has selected a new computer system called Symphony that will improve the way we offer these services to our patrons.

Symphony offers many enhancements to your library experience: improved search functions, personalized lists and suggestions, multiple language capabilities, 24/7 mobile-friendly accessibility, and online payments for fees, fines, and lost materials. Patrons will be able to browse all of the library’s collections easily, including e-books and other digital materials. You will be able to manage your account, requests, and checkouts of all books, movies, and e-books, all in one place.

Beginning May 18th, anyone with a current library card will be able to check out all that Symphony has to offer. Get ready for an exciting new experience with this expanded online catalog!

Any computer upgrade is not without its disruptions, however.

Please note the following changes to our schedule as the staff trains on the new system:

Wednesday, May 10      Open at 12 p.m.

Monday, May 15            Open at 12 p.m.

Tuesday, May 16           CLOSED

The following restrictions will be in place while we transition to the new system:

May 1-May 22: The Commonwealth Catalog will not be available for new interlibrary loan requests.

May 8 – May 18: We will not be able to catalog any materials that are delivered. This means that any new books, music, or movies we receive will not be available for check-out until after May 18th. You may experience a longer than usual wait time for new titles.

May 15 – May 17: You will not be able to place holds or manage your account online.

May 15 – May 17: Library staff will not be able to register new users, check-in materials, place holds for you or accept fee payments. You will not accrue fines/fees during this time.

May 15 – May 17: Delivery of materials between libraries will be suspended. (Interlibrary Loan)

Please contact us with any questions you have.

We will do all we can to make this transition as smooth as possible.

The Tyngsborough Public Library and Tyngsborough Town Hall are located in the same building.
From the North or South, take Exit 35 East (Route 113) off US Route 3. After approximately 1 mile take a left on to Bryants Lane.
